Grievance Note #7
College To Protect From Communicable Diseases
Your CODFA Grievance Subcommittee wants to keep you informed, to the greatest extent possible, about grievances that have been filed and their subsequent resolutions. After all, if it happened to one of us, it could happen to any of us! Please be assured that, in all cases, confidentiality will be maintained and no personal or departmental information will be revealed.
Resolved: The College will continue to protect faculty, staff and students from communicable diseases per all pertinent laws and regulations (10-01)
The grievance was filed after CODFA learned that several faculty members, as well as their students, had been exposed to a student with active tuberculosis. While there was initial concern about the lag time in notifying the faculty, after discussing the circumstances and confirming the timeline with the DuPage Public Health Department, CODFA was satisfied that the College had followed the appropriate procedures.
The grievance was resolved with the College's written agreement to continue to follow all appropriate rules, regulations and Board policies, including requiring medical proof that there is no reasonable risk of transmission of a communicable disease before allowing a student to return to campus.
Please let me, or anyone on Welfare, know if you have any questions about this grievance resolution.
