Committee Policies and Procedures
- The committee is contractual and consists of 2 faculty members appointed by Senate/Committee on Committees and 1 administrator selected by the Administrative Council. Terms are staggered three years, beginning June 1st and ending May 31st.
- Committee is a subcommittee of Welfare.
- Committee works by consensus
- Committee (or faculty member) may request a meeting to clarify any questions or concerns about a proposal.
- Committee meets (as needed), approximately every two weeks.
Process for Projects
- Letter of intent to retire submitted to H.R.
- H.R. sends faculty member a packet which includes the guidelines for earned compensation and the proposal/project form.
- Faculty member decides on a possible project, fills out form and sends proposal and form to administrator.
- Administrator signs form indicating no other compensation is being given. Administrator may also comment on the proposal.
- Proposal and form are submitted to H.R., who then sends them to the committee.
- Committee reviews proposal for Earned Compensation (E.C.) projects and either:
- accepts proposal
- requests modifications
- returns with questions to be addressed
- rejects with reasons
Note: Projects may include some all or services to the college. Per the faculty contract, all projects/services (which is otherwise uncompensated) must be of reasonable scope and make a positive contribution to the mission of the college. Projects/services cannot be part of faculty member's regular compensated duties. In order to assure that the project contributes to the college, the committee recommends that the proposal include a method of dissemination (i.e offer a T.L.C. workshop or brown bag luncheon, develop (with College support) a video, multi-media presentation, software or other tool, etc.), if appropriate.
At any time, faculty member may request a meeting with the committee.
